MEPEP at EduTech 2025: Engaging Youth & Advancing TVET

MEPEP made a strong impact at EduTech 2025, actively engaging with hundreds of students, educators, and field experts, being part of the European Union booth. The event provided a dynamic platform to introduce students to MEPEP/PESDO, vocational training, equipping them with the essential skills to thrive in Egypt’s evolving labour market. 

Throughout the exhibition, the MEPEP/PESDO team welcomed a large number of enthusiastic students seeking guidance on vocational training and career pathways. visitors explored the specialised technical training programmes available under MEPEP programme, and designed to align with market demands and provide tangible employment prospects. The team provided valuable insights into training courses in sectors such as refrigeration, PLC, electricity, welding, electronics, and secretarial work, empowering students to make informed career choices. 

On the first day, Dr. Nicola Tucci, MEPEP Team Leader, participated in a high-level panel discussion on “Circular Migration, Labour Mobility, and International Cooperation”, alongside distinguished experts, including: 

  • H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ghoneim, Ambassador of Egypt in Helsinki
  • Dr. Cecilia Coccia, MPF Grants Manager – Labour Migration, International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) 
  • Ms. Dalia Tadros, Chief Business Development Officer, SAMCRETE Investments 
  • Dr. Pasqualino Mare, Senior Human Capital Development Expert, European Training Foundation (ETF) 
  • Dr. Dina Abdel Fattah, Assistant Professor and Chair, Mohamed Shafik Gabr Department of Economics, Onsi Sawiris School of Business, American University in Cairo 

The discussion was moderated by Ms. Shoroke Zedan, CEO and Executive Director of TVET, Ta’heal. 

During the discussion, Dr. Tucci highlighted AICS/MEPEP’s key interventions aimed at strengthening Egypt’s TVET sector, sharing valuable insights, best practices, and impactful experiences in skills development and labour mobility. His contributions underscored the importance of international cooperation in enhancing vocational training systems and fostering greater economic opportunities through circular migration initiatives.

A key highlight of MEPEP’s participation was the visit of His Excellency Minister Mohamed Gobran, Minister of Labour, accompanied by Dr. Amr Bosila, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education, and Prof. Ali Shams El-Din, President of EduGate. Their visit provided an opportunity for productive discussions with Dr. Nicola Tucci, MEPEP Team Leader, focusing on MEPEP’s contributions to TVET development, employment promotion in Sharkeya, and bridging the skills gap between education and the labour market. 

EduTech 2025 brought together a diverse range of international and local organisations, including the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), and key industry partners. The participation of applied technology schools, vocational training centres, and private sector leaders reinforced the collective effort to strengthen Egypt’s technical and vocational education sector (TVET). 

MEPEP’s active participation at EduTech 2025 reflects its commitment to enhancing vocational training, fostering collaboration, and supporting youth employment in Egypt. By providing students with access to cutting-edge training and employment opportunities, MEPEP continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of Egypt’s skilled workforce.
